A new test to diagnose diabetes, recommended earlier this year by the American Diabetes Association, may not work well in black Americans, according to new research.

The Athens Regional Medical Center Diabetes Center shopping tour has become an event that the community looks forward to each spring and fall. Pris Cornwall, RN, CDE, crafted the first tour more than 11 years ago to teach her diabetic patients how to shop for the foods she counsels them to eat. The tours caught on quickly and soon became open to anyone interested in how to shop right to eat well.
